Hiroshi: "Hello, and thank you for having me. It's a pleasure to be here and talk about my beloved dog, Kiko, and how she influences my work."

"Tell me about your earliest memory involving animals or pets?"

Hiroshi: "One of my earliest memories involves a family trip to Kyoto when I was a child. We visited the famous gardens of the Kinkaku-ji Temple, and I was mesmerized by their beauty and tranquility. During that trip, we stayed at a traditional ryokan, which had a resident Shiba Inu named Hana. Hana would guide guests around the ryokan grounds, and I remember feeling a deep sense of peace while walking with her through the meticulously designed gardens. That experience sparked my love for both animals and Japanese landscape design, ultimately guiding my career path."

"What a beautiful and serene memory! It's amazing how early experiences can shape our passions and careers. Moving on to your professional life... How have animals influenced your life or work?"

Hiroshi: "Animals, especially my dog Kiko, have greatly influenced my life and work. Kiko has an innate sense of tranquility and curiosity, which mirrors the qualities I strive to bring into my landscape designs. Watching her explore and interact with different natural elements gives me insights into creating spaces that are both calming and engaging. For instance, Kiko loves to find secluded spots under trees and shrubs, inspiring me to incorporate hidden nooks and reflective areas in my gardens. Her presence reminds me to consider the sensory experiences and emotional responses that a well-designed landscape can evoke."

"It's wonderful how Kiko's behavior inspires your designs. Her influence clearly adds a unique perspective to your work. Speaking of daily routines... What role do pets play in your daily routine or creative process?"

Hiroshi: "Kiko is an integral part of my daily routine and creative process. Every morning, we start the day with a walk through a nearby park, which serves as a time for both of us to connect with nature and gather inspiration. Kiko's playful interactions with the environment often spark new ideas for my designs. One memorable moment was when Kiko discovered a small stream hidden by foliage. Her excitement in finding this hidden gem inspired me to incorporate similar elements into my projects, creating spaces that encourage exploration and discovery. Kiko's presence not only brings joy to my life but also continually influences my creative approach to landscape architecture."
